Family Art Club was pioneering; it nurtured children to stand up and talk about art, develop their creative ideas and engage in critical thinking.
It inspired families to visit the art gallery and explore it's exhibitions, encouraging open dialougue, sharing stories and memories, and making new ones.
It supported open play, free-thinking, Flow and individuality. Family Art Club gave confidence to those who needed it, both within the children and parents who took part. It was fun, interesting and we pushed the boundaries; introducing our families to sometimes difficult and demanding shows.
My biggest achievement was when I realised a family from China visited every summer to take part in a creative event that wasn't available back in China at that time.
Family Art Club could move people, physically and emotionally- it was pure genius!
